Infants are newborns to 12 monthes old.  There are ALOT of things you have to watch for on an infant.  They have no control of their mucles so you have to be really careful how you hold them, pick them up, and lay them down. They communicate though crying,so if u hear crying, that means they're either hungry, tired, needs they're diaper changed, or they need to burp more. Infants learn about their environment using they're mouths, so be careful and watch what they put in their mouths.

When they are between 6-12 months old, they start crawling, picking up objects, and sitting up without support.

All infants need physical support of head and body, diapers changed when needed, need to be fed special food, naps, constant supervision, bathing, and getting dressed.  (Warm a babies bottle in the microwave.)

Toddlers are 1-2 years old. They can walk without support and run by the age of 2. They can drink from a cup, scribble with crayons, and play with blocks.

This is the age where temper tantrums start. Toddlers start tantrums when they get tired, hungry, upset, or not feeling well. They will also say no alot and have short attention spans.

They need constant supervision, small meals (cut into small pieces) throughout the day, they will need help eating. They will need naps, playtime in and and outside. They will also need help dressing, and they will start potty training. So you will have to help them use the bathroom. You may even have to wipe for them sometimes.

Preschoolers are ages 2-4 and they are eager to learn and test their environment. They are able to ride tricycles, do puzzles, and fingerpaint.

4 year olds can dress themselves, draw small pictures, and play make-believe. They will also ask "How?" and "Why?" alot.

They will also need constsnt supervision, some assistance needed  while eating, some assistance tying shoes and dressing, naps, and play time in and outside.

School age kids are ages 5-7.  They think of themselves over others, and they like to play with friends but need time to themselves. These kids need constant supervision as well. They will need prepared meals. Younger school aged children may still take naps and have in and outdoor playtime.

What parents look for in a babysitter, is first of all, training in First Aid, CPR, and a babysitting certification which you will get in a babysitting class. They also look for experience, maturity, good manners, good communication skills, excitement about working with children, and recommendations.
